Understanding your result

Every die is independent and fair. The total range runs from the number of dice up to dice × sides.

Formula and method

Each die returns a uniform random whole number from 1 to its number of sides; the total is the sum of all dice.

Worked example

Rolling 2 × D6 might give 3 and 5 for a total of 8.
