Density Calculator

Calculate density, mass or volume from the other two.

Calculated locally in your browser.

Understanding your result

Keep units consistent; 1 g/cm³ equals 1000 kg/m³.

Formula and method

Density = Mass ÷ Volume. So mass = ρ × V and volume = mass ÷ ρ.

Worked example

100 g in 50 cm³ gives a density of 2 g/cm³.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter any two values.
  2. Leave the unknown blank.
  3. Press Calculate.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Mixing millilitres with cubic centimetres incorrectly (they are equal for water).
